Tuesday

It's a bird, no, it's a plane, no it's a bird...

This morning on my way to work, I flushed one of these avian jumbo jets from the marsh, right next to the road. I think this is as close as I've been to one, certainly since we moved out to the Greater Dryden Metroplex. I had neither my camera, nor the reflexes to use it, as he hit the afterburners hard and was out of sight in a matter of seconds, so this is a Googled photo. That large a bird, with such a striking silhouette, moving so quickly was quite a sight. I haven't seen one in a couple of years, so I'm glad to see at least one is still around. Every once in a while, one would take a breather in our pond, but HeronNet must have alerted the birds to the danger of the Pupton, who might almost have been fast enough to catch one.

All else is well.
