Memorial Day Weekend

Hmmmm...lessee ...what have we trawled up in the PowerShot net?
OK, we've got a shot from sometime early Friday morning of the sun peeking through the trees. There's a movie called 'Smoke' from some years back, written by one of my favoritest authors, Paul Auster, where the premise is that some guy who owns a tobacco store in Brooklyn (IIRC) takes the same photograph every day at the same time of morning of the view out of his window. So, I'm intrugied by the idea, but frankly, the view out of our window is sometime very much the same day after day.
It appears that the rotation function is still confusing my computer, and blogspot. Oh well. If you actually care about any of these shots, I can send a properly oriented one.
Ellie, like any dog, proves impossible to photograph with the 2 second digital delay. Mickey is back this weekend, and maybe I'll get a good shot while he's here. But there are two pictures of Ellie I've been trying to take and the above are the closest I've managed to get. These are of her open mouth 'smile'. There's a closed mouth smile that continues to elude me.
And there's a picture of my new T-Shirt promoting the Central NY Golden Rescue which I quite like. I don't feel like Ellie is really a 'rescue' dog; her prior owner took excellent care of her, but he simply couldn't afford the hip surgery that she requires (although to watch her romp around with Mickey, it's hard to believe she needs surgery). So we've been lucky in our 'rescue' dogs; Sinclair simply showed up at our door, effectively saying, 'Hey I need a new house to live in.' and Ellie was delivered to us intact. (Although she is somehwat insane and I will detail that in a future post._)
And the last shot is of a Jimi Hendrix poster that was published in yesterdays NYT, as part of a 'Summer of Love' art show at the Whitney. Among the benefits of digital photography is that I can copy pictures from any source and, presumably, have high qaullity prints made at the local Rite Aid. And Rite Aid continues to try and be as local as possible. I don't know how many drug stores we need, but they are really pushing the limit.
So, Mickey is here, and Janet (Rosemary's mom) is here, and we are trying to figure out how to have a fun Memorial Day. I imagine we'll come up with an answer, even if we don't realize it until afterwards.
